Experts discuss the general rules of zero-carbon future zero-carbon China evaluation standard officially released.

On May 28th, the 2023 Carbon-neutral and Zero-carbon China Summit and the 6th China Energy International Investment Forum, hosted by Changping District People’s Government, China Investment Association Energy Investment Committee and Beijing Future Science City Management Committee, and hosted by Beijing Changping District Investment Promotion Service Center and Beijing Future Science City Development Group Co., Ltd., were successfully held in Beijing Changping Future Science City.

Focusing on the development of zero-carbon cities, with the theme of "Green+Digital Building a Zero-carbon Smart City", the summit invited senior leaders of the world’s top 500 enterprises, including key areas of zero-carbon, as well as professional representatives of domestic and foreign research institutes, industry associations, financial companies and other institutions to discuss effective ways to build a zero-carbon ecology, share innovative experiences in various aspects such as industrial policies, innovative technologies and business models of green low-carbon industries, and provide references for the development of regional zero-carbon industries and even the construction of zero-carbon cities in the world.

Li Gao, director of the Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, said that in the past few years, China has accelerated the adjustment of energy structure, vigorously promoted the development and utilization of clean energy, and made remarkable progress in achieving the goal of "double carbon".

Wang Dapeng, deputy director of the New Energy and Renewable Energy Department of the National Energy Administration, said that China’s renewable energy has stood at a new historical starting point, and the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" period will present new features of large-scale, high-proportion, market-oriented and high-quality development.

Zhang Yonggui, vice president and secretary general of China Investment Association, said that in the past three years, the Energy Investment Committee of China Investment Association, as the implementation unit of zero-carbon China initiative, has done a lot of accumulation work in research, standard setting and project promotion.

Liu Xiaodong, member of the Standing Committee of Changping District Committee, introduced in his speech that Future Science City, as the main hub platform for Beijing to build an international science and technology innovation center, has actively implemented the national goal of "double carbon", focused on building an "energy valley" with international influence, accelerated the building of an advanced energy industry highland in Beijing, and formed industrial clusters and development advantages.

The summit released six evaluation criteria of "Zero-carbon China", namely, General Principles of Evaluation Criteria for Zero-carbon China, Evaluation Criteria for Zero-carbon Park, Evaluation Criteria for Zero-carbon Factory, Evaluation Criteria for Zero-carbon Data Center, ESG Evaluation Criteria for Energy Enterprises and ESG Information Disclosure Criteria for Energy Enterprises.

Among them, with regard to the General Principles of Evaluation Criteria for Zero-carbon China, Secretary-General Jason explained that the evaluation criteria for Zero-carbon China were created around various specific zero-carbon application scenarios under the Zero-carbon China Initiative, which were composed of basic common criteria and specific evaluation criteria, and played an important role in improving the unity of action and social influence of the Zero-carbon China Initiative.

In order to deeply discuss the theory and practice of urban green transformation and development under the goal of "double carbon", actively explore the mode and path of urban green transformation, and provide reference for promoting the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature, industry experts gave wonderful keynote speeches from their respective fields.

Du Xiangwan, an academician of China Academy of Engineering and former vice president of China Academy of Engineering, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Reflections on China’s Strategy and Path of Realizing peak carbon dioxide emissions’s Carbon Neutralization", and put forward eight strategies to achieve the goal of "double carbon": saving and improving efficiency, energy security, non-fossil energy substitution, re-electrification, resource recycling, carbon fixation, digitalization and international cooperation.

Hou Lian, an academician of China Academy of Engineering and a member of the National Committee of Experts on Eco-environmental Protection, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Innovative Development Strategies for Pollution Reduction and Carbon Reduction under the" 3060 "Goal". He put forward new technologies and application strategies for pollution reduction and carbon reduction under the goal of "double carbon", including strengthening the efficient utilization of unconventional water resources under low carbon, developing low-carbon and zero-carbon water treatment technologies, "five-in-one" low-carbon air purification technology, promoting the low-carbon life treatment mode of rural garbage, green building, promoting the development and application of clean energy, and developing the recycling technology of retired membrane products.

Kang Yanbing, deputy director and researcher of the National Energy Conservation Center, elaborated from three perspectives in his speech "New Opportunities for Energy Transformation Investment under the Target of" Double Carbon ". First, the goal of "double carbon" has accelerated the energy transformation revolution. The second is the green investment market under the goal of "double carbon". The third is the key technology to promote the goal of "double carbon".

The success of this summit marks another important step for zero-carbon China cooperation. Through sharing experiences, exchanges and cooperation, strengthening collaborative innovation in Industry-University-Research and promoting the popularization and application of green transformation and energy innovation nationwide will inject new vitality into the zero-carbon related industries and high-quality economic development in China.
